| On a different subject, I read some of your posts on the other forum and noticed that people have this idea that 7 main bearings are better than 4 main bearings.... probably because 7>4. "V type engines usually do not have a main bearing between each rod bearing. Generally the main bearing spacing is close enough between each pair of (opposing) cylinders that the crank strength is not impaired. In fact the spacing probably isn't much different than a typical in-line engine of the same bore size. Also in the V-type engine's favor is the fact that the engine is significantly shorter which leads to a much stiffer block and reduced torsional stress in the crank."
That paragraph came from an engineer at ford. Also VG has an extremely strong crank. I read in an article on escort's drag z32 and it mentioned that they are using the stock crank.
